About
WHAT IS THE BULLETPROOF ENTREPRENEUR™?
The Bulletproof Entrepreneur™ noun
- A builder who has been hit, learned what hit them, and kept building something that held.
- The idea, first put forward on this podcast, that durability is a skill you can study.
Origin The show launched in August 2014 as Odeshi | The Bulletproof Entrepreneur™. Odeshi is a Nigerian word for the protection said to make a person immune to bullets and blades. Listeners adopted the English name almost at once, and it stuck.
BULLETPROOF DOESN'T MEAN INVINCIBLE.
A vest doesn't stop the bullet from being fired. It stops it from ending you.
Everyone takes hits: a missed payroll, a partner who leaves, a market that moves while you're asleep. What matters is who's still standing, and why.
WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE
- They tell the truth about the bad year.
- They decide with half the information and own the result.
- They change course without pretending it was the plan all along.
- They write down what they learned, so the next person doesn't pay for it twice.
The podcast
INDEPENDENT. ON AIR SINCE AUGUST 2014.
Most business shows give you the funding round and the happy ending. We ask about the bad bet and the year it almost ended.
Every guest gets the same question: how did you actually build this?
- Failure is information. Hide it and nobody learns anything.
- Specifics beat slogans: names, dates, numbers, the awkward details.
- Break rules on purpose, once you know why they were there.
Most guests are invited. You can also sponsor an episode. It's a paid spot, and the fee is charged when you apply. Sponsor an episode

Founder & host
HI, I'M CHI ODOGWU.
I started this podcast because nobody was telling the stories of African builders in their own words, hard parts included.
Before that I worked in finance and consulting, where I learned how companies look on paper. I wanted to see how they really work: who made the call, and what it cost.
Years of hard conversations later, my view has changed. I used to think talent separated the founders who lasted. Now I think it's what they do after a bad month.
These days I help companies run AI inside their marketing teams, run Vertical Drama Jobs for the crews behind vertical series, and I'm writing the first book. The podcast is still where I think best.
